MY STORY
My name is Kimberly Cantu and I am the owner of Sugarista Cookies. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Masters of Science in Accounting and worked as a CPA in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for 8 years. During that time, I learned I prefer to use my mad math skills in the kitchen, rather than on a ten-key!
The idea to create Sugarista came about as a way to literally sweeten up someone’s day. I found even on your worst day, receiving love in the form of cookies warms the heart. My life has dramatically changed since I took a leap of faith to start a business and left the corporate world of accounting, but I haven’t looked back. At the end of each day, my struggles are far surpassed by being a part of something bigger than myself. I am blessed to share in my customers’ announcements, celebrations, hopes, sorrows, dreams, and most importantly love!
Sugarista started out of my home under the Cottage Law. After quick initial growth, Sugarista opened up our own store front on March 16, 2019. I was named "Lubbock's Cookies Empress" in the December 2019 Lubbock Magazine issue and featured on the cover of the Techsan in the Fall 2022 issue.
